M Joshua Ortega Sheiner
Master Joshua Ortega-Scheiner currently holds a 7th degree black belt in Chuan Fa, under GM John Patrick Nieto, with a certification as a master instructor.
He is a retired Albuquerque Fire Department Captain and paramedic, having been awarded two commendations for valor. Master Ortega-Scheiner has been teaching for the Department of Health Exercise and Sports Sciences at the University of New Mexico since 1993, is Chief Instructor of Personal Defense, and runs an MMA team through the same department.
In addition, he has coached amateur boxing, kick boxing and grappling. Most recently, Master Ortega-Scheiner fielded a team out of UNM to compete at NAGA this summer, winning two gold and two silver medals. More on master Josh Ortega-Sheiner...
Master Sheiner taught at the 2016 "Last Man Standing" event in Dallas and fuses MMA and Kenpo into a comprehensible whole. We are excited to have him teaching at the 2017 Gathering of Eagles.
