GM Mark Tracy
GM Mark Guerin Tracy did his first karate demo for a 3rd grade talent show with his father GGM Al Tracy. At age 19, Mark was a missionary for two years. He spent two months learning Portuguese and then found himself in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Soon after returning from Brazil, Mark had a job as a doorman and a valet at San Jose Athletic Club. GM Ted Sumner remembers a skinny valet handing him the keys to his truck and asked him if he was Ted Sumner. The young valet then told him that he was was his new instructor! That is how GM Mark Tracy's adult instruction began at age 21.
GM Mark Tracy ran track and cross-country at BYU and was able to train with olympians. After three years at BYU, Mark transferred to The University Of Kentucky to be with his dad in Lexington. Tracy's Karate had Central Training just south of Lexington. GM Tracy was able to learn from his father as well as martial artists who came in for training. In 1994 GM Tracy graduated from The University Of Kentucky with a degree in History.
In 1994, GM Mark Tracy opened his first karate studio in Cincinnati (Forest Park). GM Mark Tracy had two studios in Cincinnati and one in Tampa, Fl. GM Mark Tracy is opening the New Tracy's Karate Worldwide Central Training Headquarters in Tampa. Fl. It is a beautiful 2,300 sq ft facility for training and filming.
Tracy's Karate has always been about innovations. As we know GM Mark Tracy was the first person to teach 30 minute private karate lessons online using Skype. He currently has online students from the west coast and as far east as Germany. Last year GM Mark Tracy and GGM Al Tracy were able to do seminars all over the U.S. The longest trip was almost 7,000 miles by car to visit 14 studios.
On August 8th 2015, GM Mark Tracy was promoted to Judan, 10th Degree Black Belt at the Gathering of Eagles in Chicago.
